IUP volleyball dominates Puma Invitational

The IUP volleyball team came up with two big wins over St. Joseph's (Ind.) and Franklin Pierce during day two of the Puma Invitational in Rensselaer, Ind.

The biggest win of the day came against St. Joseph's, which stood at 3-0 in the invitational coming into the game. IUP dropped the first set 25-19, but then stormed back and won the match in five sets. The IUP women notched their second win of the day after it defeated Franklin Pierce.

The Crimson Hawks finished Franklin Pierce off quickly in sweeping all three sets with wins of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-22 respectively. In the second match against Franklin Pierce, Ostendorf and Hester came up big again, combining for 24 kills on only 49 attacks. Junior Sarah Alman finished the match with 21 assists and freshman Carissa Miara recorded nine assists. Senior Danielle Ostendorf and freshman Lauren Miara were named to the All-Puma Invitational Team.
