IUP pitcher Erin Holloway (13-1) gave up one hit as she shutout Lock Haven in a 5-0 run to give the Hawks their only win in the double-header against Lock Haven Sunday.
The Hawks were held scoreless until the fourth inning when Michelle Bivona picked up an RBI single.
Dee Eppinger added two more runs with a home run in the fifth inning. With two more runs in the seventh inning, the Hawks finished on top, 5-0.
Holloway gave up one hit, which came in the sixth inning and struckout six batters.
Lock Haven pitcher Sarah Morse (9-5) gave up 10 hits and five runs, finishing the game with five errors.
Megan McCormick led the team with two hits and was one of five different players to get a run.
Eppinger, with her home run in the fourth inning, finished recording three hits and two RBIs.
The Hawks were not as lucky in the second game of the double-header, as they fell 2-1 after having a 1-0 lead.
An RBI single by Marissa Leslie gave the Hawks the lead in the fourth inning. IUP didn't have the lead for long, as Brittany Favazza scored an unearned run.
An RBI double by Alicia Cacciotii brought in the second run of the inning and gave Lock Haven the lead run and eventually the win.
Bivona was the only player for the Hawks to find any runs. McCormick led the team with two hits.
IUP pitcher Kelly King (9-2) picked up her second loss of the season after giving up two runs in the final three innings.
Lock Haven Pitcher Nicole Smith (10-3) struck out seven batters as she won her tenth game of the season.
With the loss, the Hawks are second in the PSAC Central behind Bloomsburg (22-3, 6-0). Lock Haven remain third in the PSAC Central.
The Hawks will face Bloomsburg 2:30 p.m. Thursday in a battle between the top teams in the PSAC Central.
