    Crimson Hawks down Edinboro 89-87 in OT

      The top-seeded Crimson Hawks won an overtime thriller against Edinboro, 89-87, to advance to the semifinals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference tournament. “That was the best performance against us all year long,” Head Coach Joe Lombardi said.

      The 16th-ranked Crimson Hawks look to make a run at a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship as they take on Edinboro Tuesday. Indiana University of Pennsylvania earned the top seed and a first round bye in the PSAC Tournament and awaited the winner of Edinboro-Mercyhurst, which took place Saturday.

      Indiana University of Pennsylvania lost its lead in the division after their comeback push fell short against Slippery Rock Saturday. Three-time defending division champion IUP and the Rock are now tied atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West with the Crimson Hawks’ 70-69 loss.

      Led by five players scoring in double digits, the 11th-ranked Crimson Hawks earned their fifth consecutive 20-win season with a 78-70 victory over Edinboro Wednesday. “We play 26 games, and to win 20, for this team, that’s a real credit to their competitiveness,” Head Coach Joe Lombardi said, “the way they approach the preparation and their great will to win.


  • Men suffer fourth loss of season at hands of Mercyhurst

      A slow night offensively gave the 11th-ranked Crimson Hawks their fourth loss of the season, falling to Mercyhurst 57-48 Saturday. After scoring 70 just days earlier, Indiana University of Pennsylvania could not get into a shooting rhythm. The Crimson Hawks shot 36.


  • Men’s basketball retires Webb’s No. 15 jersey, defeats Cal U 70-53

      After holding the lead the majority of the game, Indiana University of Pennsylvania took down Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival California University of Pennsylvania 70-53 Wednesday.   In the game’s opening minutes, the Crimson Hawks fell behind, but took the lead faster than they had let it up and never looked back.


  • Men’s basketball rebounds with win over Clarion

      A great night of shooting gets the Crimson Hawks back in rhythm as they rebound from their first loss in a month. After suffering a tough loss to Gannon, IUP came right back just days later with a 65-54 victory over Clarion Saturday. Poor shooting doomed the team against Gannon, but against Clarion it was the complete opposite.

      Indiana University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball will retire the No. 15 jersey worn by two-time All-American and 2011 Division II Player of the Year Darryl Webb Wednesday night as they take on Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-rival California.


  • Gannon snaps Crimson Hawks’ nine-game win streak

      The Crimson Hawks fell to Gannon, 57-55, in the final seconds of the game, snapping their nine-game win streak. After a slow first half, Indiana University of Pennsylvania went into the locker room trailing 30-24. Midway through the second half, the Crimson Hawks’ offense got hot and went on a 15-0 run, taking a 45-38 lead with 11:23 to go.



  • Men extend streak to eight with victory over Lock Haven

      Indiana University of Pennsylvania earned its eighth straight victory Wednesday with a 71-53 win over Lock Haven. The Crimson Hawks were in control through most of the first half, using a 14-3 run to take a 15-point lead with the score 35-20. Just before halftime, though, Lock Haven went on a run of its own to come within six points of the lead.

      After IUP’s first loss of the season, they dropped in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll. IUP dropped seven spots to No. 22. After a 4-0 start, the Crimson Hawks suffered a 64-60 loss to Cheyney on Saturday.


  • Men’s basketball rebounds after season’s first loss with win over West Chester

      After suffering their first loss of the season, the Crimson Hawks got back into winning form with a 71-52 victory over West Chester Sunday. IUP came out firing just one day removed from its first loss of the season yesterday afternoon at Cheyney. The Crimson Hawks were on point from the opening tip Sunday, racing out to a 10-2 lead in the game’s opening moments.

    Men’s basketball remains undefeated with win over Seton Hill

      The Crimson Hawks improved to 4-0 as they beat Seton Hill Sunday 63-55 in the second day of the Indiana Regional Medical Center Classic at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. IUP’s hot offense led the team to victory with four Crimson Hawks finishing in double-figures.


  • Strong second half propels Crimson Hawks to victory over Bowie State

      The Crimson Hawks used a hot second half to overcome a 15-point halftime deficit for a 75-72 victory over Bowie State Wednesday at the Kovalchick Center and Athletic Complex. IUP scored 51 second half points on nearly 70 percent shooting en route to a victory.



  • Men’s basketball keeps in close in loss to Maryland

      Mathis Keita and Anthony Wells continued their great play in exhibition play as they led IUP in an impressive performance, falling to Maryland 73-61 Friday. The Crimson Hawks had another great outing against a Division I opponent. Keita scored a team-high 16 points with Anthony Wells close behind, scoring 14.

      The Crimson Hawks raised expectations for the regular season in a 69-54 loss to Division I Pittsburgh where newcomer Mathis Keita shined. IUP opened exhibition play Friday at the Petersen Events Center with impressive play by both newcomers and returning players against a tough opponent in Pitt.


  • Men’s basketball to open exhibition season in Pittsburgh

      IUP was voted No. 1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West in the men’s basketball preseason coaches’ poll, released Tuesday. The Crimson Hawks received three first place votes along with No. 2 Slippery Rock. The Crimson Hawks look to achieve their third straight PSAC tournament championship after winning in 2010 and 2011.
