Zack Kempa's first-round 64 helped him win the Burger King/Ohio Valley Invitational last weekend.
Kempa's first round was a course record at the Woodbridge Golf Course in Mineral Wells, W. Va.
He had a total of 11 birdies, four of which were on par 5's.
His performance also earned him PSAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors, and he was one of only two Crimson Hawks under par at the end of the last tournament.
Kempa finished the tournament -7, and Sean Sweithelm shot a first round of 68 and tied Kempa with a 71 in the second round. He finished the tournament at -3.
With Kempa and Sweithelm finishing No. 1 and No. 2 in the individual portion, the Crimson Hawks won the team award as well.
This was all done without Brad Boyle, who is still recovering from knee surgery that he underwent during the summer.
The plan is still to have him back in time for the PSAC Tournament Oct. 15 and 16.
Boyle is the leading player from last year's team and will add more depth to a team that already has one championship under its belt.
Derek Baker, Jack Owen and Jared Palubinski all finished at +8, which put them in tie for 14th place. The Hawks placed the most players in the top 20 with five.
The Hawks have another tournament Sept. 11 and 12 when they travel to Clarion for the Hal Hansen Invitational at the Clarion Oaks Golf Course.
