  • Golf finishes fourth at Mystic Rock

      Behind Zack Kempa’s five-over 149, the Crimson Hawks posted a fourth-place finish at The Challenge at Mystic Rock, hosted by California University in Farmington.  Kempa finished in a tie for third overall, as he posted a 72 par in the first round and a 77 in the second round.


  • IUP comes in second at Spadafora Invitational

      With Sean Sweithelm leading the way, Indiana University of Pennsylvania pulled off a second-place finish at the 50th Annual Cecil C. Spadafora Golf Invitational, as play finished up Monday afternoon at the Indiana Country Club.  Sweithelm finished the two-round tournament with an even par 142, which was three strokes ahead of Cameron Buist of Davis & Elkins.


  • Crimson Hawks impressive at Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational

      Indiana University of Pennsylvania golf turned in a strong effort at their most recent competition, as they placed fourth at this weekend’s Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational in Grasonville, Md. IUP was the only Division II school at the three-round, 24-team tournament, with the rest of the teams being Division I.


  • Golf dominates at St. James Plantation Invitational

      It was a great day for IUP golf Saturday, as the team had three different golfers place in the top four individuall, paving the way for teh squad’s overall victory at the St. James Plantational Invitational in Southport, N.C. The tournament was the first of the spring season, as the six-time defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference champions triumphed over the 10 other competing teams.



  • Crimson Hawks finish fourth at Mercyhurst Fall Classic

      The men’s golf team traveled to Erie over the weekend to participate in the Mercyhurst Fall Classic and finished fourth overall in their final tournament before the PSAC Championships.  Leading the Crimson Hawks was senior Sean Sweithelm, who tied for fifth place overall.


  • Hawks dominate at Vulcan Invitational

      Zack Kempa led the Crimson Hawks to a first overall finish over the weekend at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by Cal U at the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Bell Vernon. Kempa finished third overall with a two-under 212, finishing the tournament three shots off the lead.


  • IUP golfer's passion is nationwide

      For Zack Kempa, golfing has been his passion ever since he has been able to walk, literally.  “My grandpa cut me down a little club, and I started hitting balls around the front yard and 20 years later, here I am,” he said. A native of Brantford, Ontario, Kempa has become well known in his time golfing.


  • Golf takes first in regional tournament

      The rain was no match for the IUP men’s golf team Monday and Tuesday as they took first place at the Powerade Atlantic Region Division II Collegiate Invitational.  Zack Kempa tied for third place overall with teammate, Jake Owen. The duo led IUP to their second first place finish in their three tournaments this season.

      The green, a tranquil, relaxing zone for those who call themselves golf lovers. The big question seems to be, “Where does the love affair with golfing end?” “Does it cease once one leaves the course, or after the final tally is made?” Today, the questions seem to be answered in a rather compelling way; thanks to Golf Academy of America (GAA), individuals can now take the drive and passion they possess, concerning the world of golf, and they can plug it into an institution that transforms it into an actual, physical career.


Boyle leads IUP golf team to tournament victory

For the second straight week, Brad Boyle finished first overall out of all participants and the IUP men’s golf team took first overall in the 49th Annual Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational at the Indiana Country Club Sunday and Monday.
