After distributing 400 tickets, the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex has announced that their Second Annual IUP Homecoming dance is sold out.
“The dance is here to encourage students to have a convenient, safe homecoming experience,” Kate Linder, associate dean of students, said.
Taking into consideration that the event is free, it is hard to say that tickets are sold out; however, all tickets have been given away.
The dance will be held on Saturday.
Doors will open at 8:30 p.m.; however, the dance will not officially begin until 9:30 p.m., and it will last until 1:30 a.m.
There will be music and a DJ, provided by Absolute Sound. The DJ will be taking students’ requests during the event.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Sponsored by the Center For Student Life, the dance will be a combination of IUP students and students from other area universities.
At the time of ticket pick-up, students had the option to also take with them an extra ticket.
Students will not be able to get tickets at the door, and all tickets needed to be picked up in advance.
Although the event is sponsored by the Center for Student Life, the Student Cooperative Association provides some funding.
The Co-op arranges the accounts for different events and organizations on-campus, decides what accounts get certain amounts of money, and the events and organizations, like the Center for Student Life.
The Center for Student Life’s account also aids in the funding of the parade; however, funding given by the Co-op is not used in any aspect of the floats’ funding.
“It’s pretty cool how much time and money is spent on the parade floats,” Linder said.
Although tickets are no longer available, the Center for Student Life is excited for the dance, and hopes that students have fun.
“Homecoming is a good time for alumni to come back and enjoy the campus,” Linder said. “And for students to celebrate being at a campus that is well-known and has good staff members.”
