The sun is shining and we've finally seemed to escape what felt like a never-ending winter. We'll spare you the sappy "make sure you study" nonsense.
You know what to do. Keep on top of your game, make sure you get enough rest and manage your time wisely.
It's difficult this time of year when you're torn between squeezing in those last moments with friends who'll be leaving for the summer (or graduating) and trying to maintain academic success, but we encourage our IUP brethren to balance the two.
Don't put off studying until the last minute, but conversely, don't spend so much time holed away in the library that the memories of your early 20s become nothing but a blur of all-nighters, coffee and vision fogged by fluorescent lighting.
Most of us are at an age where we have many opportunities open to us, but life is more than trying to attain the right grade. Spend your time wisely.
For those of you who are graduating, congratulations! Feel free to rub it in to your younger or less-focused friends - they may not take it kindly, but if you're not afraid of being an asshole, you've certainly earned some good-natured ribbing.
Attaining a higher degree is an honorable feat, and we at The Penn commend your efforts.
Take some time to reward yourself, and keep your standards high. Don't stagnate, and don't forget the friendships you've forged over your time here.
Geographical differences aside, we are fortunate to live in an age where people can easily contact one another across great distances within seconds.
Having said that, don't think that relentlessly poking someone via Facebook is an adequate replacement for chats over coffee or nights of less-than-wise, but otherwise satisfying decisions.
For the rest of you who plan on darkening the HUB with your shadows next fall, be safe over the summer. Sunburn is nigh inevitable, but take caution to make decisions that will keep you ready to go come August.
Thanks for reading this year, and we'll see you in the fall!
