T-Pain, known for such songs as "Buy You A Drink" and "Bartender," will perform on campus Sunday courtesy of University Concerts. The concert features the nominee for this year's American Music Awards' Favorite Male Artist, alongside special guest The Collective. T-Pain jump-started his career in 2005 with the song titled "Sprung," a story about finding new love. In 2007, T-Pain's style proved popular as his hits climbed the Billboard Charts Hot 100 with "Sprung," "I'm In Love With a Stripper," and, teamed with Chris Brown for "Kiss Kiss." "It's always good when a big name artist comes to IUP," said Kari Andren (senior, journalism). "But he's not really someone I follow." In his future works, T-Pain plans to record with artists such as Kanye West and R. Kelly. This is a concert that students at IUP seem to be getting excited about. "I'm glad IUP is actually getting artists that students are interested in," said Donovan Daniel (junior, athletic training). Gabriela Timothy (freshman, marketing) still plans to buy ticket for the show. Some students were hesitant about his upcoming appearance. "I couldn't care less," said Dominique Harrison (senior, psychology). The concert will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Field House. Tickets cost $20 with an I-card and $25 without an I-card. However, tickets prices will increase to $30 when sold at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, contact the HUB Box Office, (724) 357-1313 or purchase them online at iuptickets.com.
