Looking for the perfect gift? Gift cards can only go so far. This holiday season, electronic gifts are coming off the shelves almost as quickly as they are coming into the stores. "[The most popular gifts this season are] definitely the GPS systems, iPod's and gaming stuff like PS3s," said Jeff, a sales associate at the Indiana Mall Radio Shack. "More than $22.1 billion will be spent on consumer electronics gifts this holiday season," according to the Consumer Electronics Association's (CEA) 14th Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns study. According to cepro.com, "the top five gifts on the wish list for adults are MP3 players, notebook/laptops, video game systems, digital cameras and any type of TV, while teens would like MP3 players, digital cameras, notebook/laptops, computers and any type of TV." "[The most popular electronic item is] the Nintendo Wii," said Kristi, a store support representative at the Indiana Mall Sears. For those looking for more personal gifts Indiana Mall's Things Remembered offers personalized items with sentimental value that can be passed down for generations. "Personalized ornaments are popular," said Vanessa Miller, Things Remembered sales associate. For those searching for a present that will make their friends laugh, Spencer's has the perfect gifts. "Our t-shirts, lighting and jewelry are most popular," said Sandy Reinard, the manager of the Indiana Mall Spencer's. The top 10 gadget gifts of 2007 are the iPod Touch, Samsung 81 Series LCD HDTV, Sound ID SM100 Ear Module, TiVo HD, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18, Dell XPS M1330, Navigon 7100, Apple iMac, Flip Video Ultra Series, and Creative Aurvana X-Fi Noise Cancelling Headphones, according to laptopmag.com. For those who don't know what some of the items are, here's the run down: The iPod Touch is $299 and according to laptopmag.com, a "multimedia maven on your list will get Apple's brilliant multi-touch display, built-in Wi-Fi, the Web via Safari, YouTube access, and wireless iTunes downloads." According to laptopmag.com, "the Sound ID SM100 is miles better than your everyday budget Bluetooth headset. This tiny 0.4-ounce device features a NoiseNavigation System that determines the loudness, frequency, and other characteristics of incoming sound, then counters them with advanced noise reduction and echo blockers." Also, with TiVo HD, recording favorite shows, sports events and flicks in high definition is easy. Dell's XPS M1330 starts at $1499 and crams every feature one can think of into the slim, wedge-shaped laptop (available in red and black), including an ultra-bright 13.3-inch, LED-backlit display, webcam, fingerprint reader, and DVD burner, according to laptopmag.com. According to cnnmoney.com, 2007 holiday spending is expected to decline due to the rising costs of gasoline and heating oil. In light of the increasing cost of gas and energy, don't forget to stash some money away for the upcoming holiday season.
