Enjoy the outdoors during finals at nearby parks and trails

Bust out the shorts and T-shirts - spring has finally arrived and it's a great time to go outside to have some fun in the sun. Indiana County is home to many fine parks and trails to experience. Most of them are in walking or biking distance, and some are not too far to drive to.

Co-op Board of Directors changes membership, prepares for next year's duties

The Student Co-op Board of Directors voted in new officers for the 2009-2010 year during their meeting Thursday in the HUB Knowlton Board Room. Calvin Masilela stepped down from his position as chairperson for the Co-op Board. Masilela first became a member of the board in 2003 and was elected chair of the board in 2005, serving four terms in that time according to Dennis Hulings, Co-op executive director and CEO.

The sun is shining and we've finally seemed to escape what felt like a never-ending winter. We'll spare you the sappy "make sure you study" nonsense. You know what to do. Keep on top of your game, make sure you get enough rest and manage your time wisely. It's difficult this time of year when you're torn between squeezing in those last moments with friends who'll be leaving for the summer (or graduating) and trying to maintain academic success, but we encourage our IUP brethren to balance the two.

Finally finals

Finals week is upon us at last. A semester's worth of studying or procrastinating will soon come to an end with a volley of exams, papers, and projects that are supposed to demonstrate whether you can adequately apply the knowledge you gained throughout the last four months.

Goaltending is key

It could be said that in hockey, the player that represents your best penalty-killer is the goaltender. The same could be said of the Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury put on a show Tuesday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarter-finals with the Pens coming out on top with a 3-1 victory in Philadelphia.
